Origin
Heriz Wool Rug 6.7×9.7 is a city located in the East Azerbaijan province of northwestern Iran. Despite being only 60 miles from Tabriz, another famous carpet-producing city, Heriz rugs have a distinct style that sets them apart. These carpets are easily recognized by their abstracted, crenellated plant designs, vines, flowers, rosettes, and bold central medallions. The large central medallion design is arguably the most iconic of all Heriz carpets. It draws inspiration from the “Eagle Kazaks” of the Caucuses, with its striking sunburst pattern. In addition to the bold medallion designs, Heriz rugs also feature variations like repeating lattice motifs and the harsang pattern.
