Ardabil Rugs
Ardabil Wool Rug 6.6×9.6 carpets originate from Ardabil, a city located 639 kilometers north of Tehran in Iran’s Ardabil Province. This region boasts a rich and famous rug-weaving tradition. Ardabil carpets, often featuring the Bow-Tie motif, showcase designs similar to Caucasian rugs but include additional motifs and objects woven into the borders. Moreover, the colors in Ardabil rugs tend to be lighter. The patterns predominantly consist of geometric shapes, with medallions, several connected diamond-shaped medallions, and all-over octagonal designs being the most popular layouts. Notably, the iconic Mahi (Herati) design, which features a diamond medallion and small fish throughout, stands out as the most well-known motif found on Ardabil rugs.
